Abstract

We conduct a comprehensive life-cycle assessment of post-combustion carbon capture and mineralization at a representative European cement plant. Results show net CO2 reductions of 68-82% per tonne of cement. The energy penalty of 210 kWh/t CO2 is primarily offset by on-site renewable integration. Economic analysis indicates breakeven at a carbon price of EUR 87/t under current technology costs.
